pstat -T segfaults -- debugging help?

I'm running -current updated this morning.  I'm trying to figure out how
to get a good backtrace with gdb -- but I can't seem to compile pstat
with debugging symbols.  (gcc34)

I tried 'make DEBUG_FLAGS=-g' which did indeed add the -g flag to the
compiler flags, but the finished executable still has no symbols.

What am I forgetting?
