NetBSD: gcc-3.3.3, OpenBS: gcc-3.3.5
and well DragonFly-1.4.0 is gcc-3.4.5

compilator behavior is what I had in mind first too, but they are all
minor version of the 3.x serie.
I will search through the gnu-gcc list...
