ed0 not found in bochs

I'm having trouble getting bochs ne2k device probed by DragonFlyBSD.
Here's the relevant portion of my .bochsrc:

ne2k: ioaddr=0x280, irq=9, mac=b0:c4:20:00:00:00, ethmod=fbsd, ethdev=bge0

I've also tried irq 10 which matches what is in
/usr/src/sys/i386/conf/GENERIC.

In all cases the ed0 device is not found.  I tried an older (read
pre-ABI changes) Preview and a snapshot of yesterday's HEAD.

Has anyone gotten this to work?
