This is one of the stumbling blocks of getting pfSense ported over to
DragonFly. Glad to hear that you are taking this work on. I will
also
be happy to test when you have patches ready.

I ported CARP to NetBSD and had a working patch for dragonfly
but my dragonfly machine died, losing the patch with it. If you
require any help, please feel free to contact me. I'm in my exam
period right now but will help anyway I can. It should be pretty
straight forward.
