I rebuilt everything, full build with GENERIC kernel last night,
and still get a random number of disks if I boot with ACPI off. I
have noticed that when booting single user to installworld, which
automatically loads ACPI, then I get a set number of disks, but
this 1999 machine is hard to use with ACPI and it might just be
because it is in single user.
The panic has only occurred once, it always shuts down without
any complaints and is doing so now. I was actually having a look at
where this number of disks might come from when it paniced. My
very amateur investigations were centered on
I will wait for these big upcoming changes and set back up with
crash dump support when I figure out how.
