'Generic PCI ATA controller' is a bad sign. What does FreeBSD say the controller is for ata0/ata1 ?

pciconf -l output (from FreeBSD) on this machine would also help.

It could be as simple as adding the PCI ID for the particular ata chipset.

dfbsd has problems accessing ad1 (hard errors) while fbsd has not.

Is this at all related to the problems accessing the SCSI-RAID?

Another question: I am dual-booting fbsd and dfbsd by pressing F1 or F2. Is there a way to control this from remote? Where is the default boot selection stored?
