Waiting for firefox2 I'm using firefox3 (Minefield) and I've met the 
same problem but a runtime:

 Jul  5 10:53:34 lap kernel: pid 842 (firefox-bin), uid 1002: exited on 
signal 6
Jul  5 11:04:24 lap kernel: pid 10381 (shlibsign), uid 0: exited on 
signal 10
Jul  5 11:24:50 lap su: fer to root on /dev/ttyp3
Jul  5 11:34:30 lap kernel: pid 10490 (shlibsign), uid 0: exited on 
signal 10 (core dumped)
Jul  5 13:41:58 lap kernel: pid 755 (Xorg), uid 0: exited on signal 6
Jul  5 13:42:00 lap gdm-binary[748]: WARNING: 
gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0

and it cause the X termination too.

Probably the error at compile time on firefox2 is the same that occurs 
at runtime on firefox3.
