eactly all of what "/etc/mk.conf" has.
/etc/mk.conf is for pkgsrc. /etc/make.conf is for the system build.

Documentation/Guide/FAQs do not contain this distinction.
Please make sure that this is in your /etc/make.conf:
WANT_GCC41=yes
it *is* there and since i made it a copy of "/etc/mk.conf", it
contains these lines too, at the beginning and end respectively:
ifdef .... [some text here] ......
fi
