I've always liked Thinkpads.  They do cost extra, but with good reason. 
I'm trying to get a Z50 working right now, in fact.

www.laptopblowout.com usually has a number of older Thinkpads around for a
relatively cheap price, though if you have the budget for newer hardware -
go for it.
