Last time i looked at that, kde3 used gamin and not fam to monitor
changes on the filesystem. As far as i had seen, it was very beneficial
for files on NFS shares, because fam was constantly harassing the NFS
server, to the point i had to install all my files locally. With
gamin the problem was solved.
