Speaking as a fan of open-source (in general) I like to focus
on the big picture occasionally (because I don't understand the
small picture anyway):  is any of this current work going to be
useful to the other BSD's, or even to linux?

If not, is it possible to distill the reasons down to a concept
that even a bonehead could grasp?
