I'm not sure if messing with /modules is the right way. If you rebuild and
reinstall the kernel using e.g. make installkernel, /modules is moved away
and the modules get removed. On the other hand, if you install an old kernel
which doesn't include e.g. the checkpt.ko by default, running make update
is a bad idea.
