:I only ran it for a minute or two.  The clock is working normally
:today on my UP machine.

    I didn't notice that I had broken it for a while.  I just thought
    that I had to recompile 'ps' :-).  It's amazing the system didn't
    crash immediately because it was doing a locking operation in a FAST
    interrupt.
