I have seen this too - basically system is skipping those CDs like there 
 are no bootblocks installed. I have seen this on one of my old time 
DFly test machines (Matsonic MS7112C (featuring Slot1 and Socket 370!) 
running P3-500 and 384MB) which always worked fine for DFly CDs - but 
not anymore. Recently (3 weeks ago) I needed DFly live CD in order to 
restore boot manager, but live CDs did not work. Luckily, I had 
DFly-stable live CD from around middle of December which worked.
