I believe that this could be a familiar problem as described in the FAQ 
see http://www.dragonflybsd.org/main/FAQ.cgi under
"I get garbage on the screen when I boot or I can't seem to pause at the 
initial boot menu."

Please feedback if this is a solution for you or if you find another.
