you shouldn't disklabel ad0; only use disklabel on BSD slices (i.e. 
ad0s2 or ad0s4 for you i think)!

ad0s1 should easily mount with
# mount -t msdos /dev/ad0s2 /mnt
or with
# mount -t msdos /dev/ad0s2c /mnt
