vidcontrol + usb keyboard = key repeat bug

This occured first at least a week ago. After after a clean install and 
rebuilding yesterday's GENERIC kernel + the changes below, a USB 
keyboard becomes over-sensitive to key presses. This bug actually 
renders login impossible using the USB keyboard. Attempts to login, 
comedically, look like this:

login: rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooootttttttttttt

This behavior does not occur with a PS/2 keyboard.

recompile kernel with
device vga
options VESA
device sc
options SC_PIXEL_MODE

edit /etc/rc.conf
allscreens_flags="-g 100x37 VESA_800x600"
font8x8="swiss-8x8"
font8x14="NO"
font8x16="swiss-8x16"
