boot splash screen

Hello.
I'd like to have cute splash screen while booting DF.
I've inserted following commands to /boot/loader/conf:
vesa_load="YES"
splash_bmp_load="YES"
bitmap_load="YES"
bitmap_name="splash5.bmp"

/boot/splash5.bmp is BMP file, 320x200, 8 bit depth.

And it doesn't work.

I don't see splash screen nor error messages.

I have vesa and pseudo-device splash compiled in kernel.
