:Don't get too excited. An AMD64 build has much
:higher kernel/networking latencies in freeBSD 5.x
:than a 32 bit build, so its not a slam dunk to be
:better.

    AMD64 support is going to require a concerted effort and isn't
    going to happen until at least the journaling and a good chunk of
    the BGL work is done.  It might not happen until next year the way
    things are going.

    I don't know why the AMD64 build would be slower in FreeBSD 5.x.
    It should be about the same speed with regards to network latencies.
