libmemcache/pmk stuff

Hello!


For some time I am having a problem with libmemcache (library to access 
memcached(http://www.danga.com/memcached/)). It can not configure itself 
(via pmk) with this error:


* Checking header [include_socket]
        Use C language with CC compiler.
        Store compiler flags in 'CFLAGS'.
        Found function 'socket' in 'sys/socket.h' : no.
Error : failed to find function 'socket'.


Same problem is present on FreeBSD and developers site 
(http://people.freebsd.org/~seanc/libmemcache/) mentiones pmk 0.9.x 
being bad, but even pmk 0.8.2 has this error. Having this library works 
opens a lot of new possibilities which is why I am interested in it.

Any ideas?
