ntpdate is being depreciated and slated to go away 'any time now' in the ntp 
release schedule.  ntpd -q is it's equivilent.  DragonFly was using OpenNTP 
from OpenBSD as of 1.1, so dunno what to tell you, as that has ntpdate and 
does not provide a switch to make ntpd perform a similar function.
