Joerg understandably doesn't have the time to express his findings
in a more substatiated and diplomatic manner, Guiseppe. :D

But as Joerg acknowledges: the Gentoo portage system is not the way
to go, for us at least. ;)

Hi,
I'm a newbie for the BSD system, I've always used Linux. Actually I'm
using Gentoo and I think that the Gentoo portage
system is better that the ports system. I can draw attention to this:

Is the portage system possible to DragonFly?

Sorry, but I completely disagree. I have used portage long enough and
it doesn't compare to ports. It's flaky and the maintainership sucks
at best.
