People used to say: Number of CPU's + 1.
So with one HT enabled P4 I would suggest to try 3 first.  If you have
sufficient memory available and a good memory/disk IO path, you could try 4
and 5 and see how it makes a difference.

Might make for a nice test all in all.  Just make sure to completely rm -rf
/usr/obj/* before each run.
