DragonFly kernel List (threaded) for 2003-12
a thought on profiles [WAS: Re: configuration files]
Wouldn't it be cleaner to wait for *generic*
usage profile support until vfs environments
are in place ?
Of course you may go and write a script that
stops/starts certain subsystems and configures
Especially if you want it *now*. :-)
And you will do it just for the sake of the
immediate benefits anyway.
But sure enough you will sooner or later run
into problems that are not in the domain of
RCNG and friends - maybe a different httpd.conf,
some more entries in ftpusers - you name it...
But with vfs environments and some support in
loader/kernel/init you will just have *all*
options at yours. And testing is easy:
You'll play around until you're satisfied
and just save the environment.
Is this doable at all ?
