It seems to me that having such a want list could be useful for other things.
I happen to have quite a bit of "old" hardware lying around that could be
useful for compatibility testing/extension. (example: I have an inito950 UW
scsi controller that wroks under linux, their website has a *bsd driver, but
it chokes badly under 4.9-S (compiles fine, loads the driver fine, everything
is happy until you try to read from the drive, sometimes it works, others
it...well, doesn't) If someone happened to want to write a (new) driver for
this, I would be more than willing to ship it to him, if he didn't have one
(one supposes that a person wanting to write/modify a driver probably has the
hardware, but you never know). Having such a list would enable the person
with the hardware to get in touch with the person who has the coding skills
to write the driver. (I could probably tackle it myself given enough time and
box to work with that I can afford to have not working some percentage of the
time)

In addition, if there is not a high demand for "complete systems" there may be
the ability for matt (or others as the project grows and gains
supporters/sponsors) to purchase individual components.

Also, FWIW, and if you're looking, I would be willing to donate time to
acquiring-assmebly-shipping of systems. It doesn't seem like it is taking a
terrible toll on matt's time at this point, but given my coding skills, is
someplace beyond 'mere' testing and offering opinions that I could help out.
