    Hmm.  It sounds like the kernel might not be able to attach
    the USB dvd drive on boot.

    Try plugging the USB dvd drive into a different usb port.

    I don't know whats up with the keyboard.  Usually ps/2 keyboards
    work fine and usb keyboards have problems.
