ah yes, i wanted to suggest this, but forgot to. this is the case for my laptop as well. that acpi mucks around is sad, but seemingly reality often enough (never encountered this myself, though).


The default BIOS setting of "Normal" allows for better speed but
seems to map the IDE/SATA devices as SCSI. "Legacy" setting puts them
back as straight IDE. Or something.

the setting is not supposed to change speed, just the interface, i guess. nata should fix this.
