I'm actually running VMware under Linux; DF is the guest OS.  (Sadly, 
they dropped their support for FreeBSD in version 4.)

However, shouldn't an app linked against a dynamic libc make the correct 
system calls?  Or was the version number of libc revved with the 
introduction of the messaging API?
